Recently USA Field Hockey, the governing body for US
Field Hockey play, released “recommendations” for eye protection,
stating, “USA Field Hockey to allow approved protective eyewear at
membership/developmental events”. Since there is no national rule
requiring goggles, the governing body has left it up to the individual
states to make their own rules and so there is much
confusion about to whom, what kind and where the wearing of goggles
applies.
Several states now require eye protection that meets ASTM-803 safety standards.
All of the goggles available on our site meet ASTM-803 which is the
safety standard used, with Field Hockey goggles also requiring an
additional "poke" test. Any goggle approved for Field Hockey can also
be used for Lacrosse but the reverse is not always true. For your
convenience we have broken down the goggles into seperate Lacrosse and
Field Hockey catagories.
Field hockey goggles are very similar to women's lacrosse goggles. In
fact, many models are interchangeable, working for either sport. In
both cases, the goggles are comprised of a metal frame or polycarbon
lense designed to protect the orbital region from accidental trauma.
Well-designed goggles are usually ergonomic, contouring the natural
shape of the face, providing minimal visual interference and a
comfortable padded area.
If for any reason you have questions about particular goggles or rules or need a quote for team pricing please email me at: tom@metrosportbrokers.com or call toll free during our regular business hours at : 1-877-360-9627
